What happens during a check-up?

Check-ups are quick and painless, but they are hugely important. When you for a dental check, your dentist will have a thorough look around your mouth and check the health of your teeth and gums. They will note down any changes that have occurred since your last check and make sure there are no signs of problems, such as gum disease and dental decay. If you have symptoms of gum disease or a cavity, your dentist may arrange an appointment so that you can have further treatment, such as a filling.

After your dental check, your dentist may also have a quick chat with you about oral hygiene or your diet and if you have any questions, they will be happy to answer them.

We love welcoming young patients to the practice and our dentists have many years of experience in caring for children’s teeth. We understand that some children feel scared when they go to the dentist and we do all we can to help them feel relaxed and make their time with us as enjoyable as possible.

We recommend bringing children for regular check-ups from the age of 12 months old; this enables us to keep an eye on the child’s tooth development and oral health, a well as giving them the opportunity to get used to going to the dentist and having dental treatment.
