Check-ups For Adults And Children At Dublin18 Dental Care In Deansgrange

At Dublin18 Dental Care near Deansgrange we aim to make sure our patients have healthy, as well as beautiful, smiles and we offer a full range of general dental services to help achieve this goal. We provide treatment for patients of all ages and we encourage all our clients to have a routine check-up every 6 months.

What happens during a check-up?

Check-ups are quick and painless, but they are hugely important. When you for a dental check, your dentist will have a thorough look around your mouth and check the health of your teeth and gums. They will note down any changes that have occurred since your last check and make sure there are no signs of problems, such as gum disease and dental decay. If you have symptoms of gum disease or a cavity, your dentist may arrange an appointment so that you can have further treatment, such as a filling.

After your dental check, your dentist may also have a quick chat with you about oral hygiene or your diet and if you have any questions, they will be happy to answer them.

General dentistry at Dublin18 Dental Care

We offer a full range of general dental treatments to prevent, treat and manage oral health conditions; our treatments include routine dental checks, dental hygiene services, preventative dental treatment, fillings, root canal treatment and tooth extraction.

Children’s check-ups

We love welcoming young patients to the practice and our dentists have many years of experience in caring for children’s teeth. We understand that some children feel scared when they go to the dentist and we do all we can to help them feel relaxed and make their time with us as enjoyable as possible.

We recommend bringing children for regular check-ups from the age of 12 months old; this enables us to keep an eye on the child’s tooth development and oral health, a well as giving them the opportunity to get used to going to the dentist and having dental treatment.

Dental Check Ups With Dr Kevin Murphy At Dublin18 Dental Care Near Deansgrange

At Dublin18 Dental Care we believe that good dental health starts with good dental hygiene. That’s why during this month of September we are offering a complimentary hygienist session for all our patients who book a dental check up with Dr Kevin Murphy.

Our 13-point dental health check

During your check up we will assess 13 key areas, to ensure that you are in the very best of dental health.

  1. We will discuss any personal concerns you have about your teeth and mouth.
  2. We will look over your medical history and discuss how certain issues may affect your dental health.
  3. We will carry out an oral cancer screening, checking your lips, cheeks, tongue, glands and skin for any warning signs. Catching oral cancer early can literally save your life.
  4. We will check the flow of saliva in the mouth.
  5. We will look over the tongue for illnesses or bad-breath causing coatings.
  6. We will check for tooth decay.
  7. We will check for erosion and cracks, which are an indication of wear.
  8. We will examine any existing fillings, bridges and crowns you have, to ensure that they are still performing at an optimal level.
  9. We will check how your bite sits in your mouth, as misalignment can cause numerous problems
  10. We will check the joints of your jaw and its muscles for problems that may be affecting the way you eat and chew.
  11. We will look over your gums to ensure that you are not suffering from periodontal disease.
  12. We will look at areas in the mouth that you have been accidentally missing during your oral hygiene routine. We will then provide advice as to the best way to address these areas.
  13. We may also provide x-ray examination if we feel we need to check between, under or inside your teeth.

Why are dental checks and cleaning sessions so important?

The health of your mouth can affect your whole body, with numerous studies linking dental plaque to heart disease and other problems. Oral cancer is also a worry, not just to your mouth but also to your whole body, but with a dental health check and a hygienist clean you can feel happy in the health of your mouth. Our 13-point health check helps us spot any problems you may have, and with a hygienist cleaning session plaque and bacteria that cause so many problems will be banished.
