Braces in Dublin – improving your smile at any age

Many people have a certain idea when they think about braces – maybe you think they are only for young people, that they are unsightly and spoil the look of your teeth or that they are difficult to care for or painful.

Here at Dublin18 Dental we can change your perception of braces in Dublin and encourage you to take the leap to permanently improve the appearance and feel of your teeth whilst looking and feeling good during the process.

braces-in-dublinBraces have come such a long way. Treatment times are shorter and the whole process is more comfortable. The end result has cosmetic benefits and can also improve the health of your teeth.

What is the process?

First we will do a consultation to assess whether braces are the best solution for you at our practice based in Dublin. Braces can be used to straighten teeth or close gaps and we need to check the position and condition of your teeth to be sure we tailor the treatment to each individual.

Your braces can be fitted in a single appointment and, after that, you will need to take good care of them and pay special attention to your oral hygiene as they will require extra care on top of your normal routine.

You will then have regular appointments and support to keep the process on track and ensure that the braces are doing their job. We do our best to minimize discomfort and will offer guidance on eating and generally caring for your braces in everyday life. Overall treatment time varies but can be as little as six months.

Dublin18 Dental – putting you first

We know you will have a personal, positive and professional experience when you come to us. Visiting the dentist, especially for longer term work, is an experience that is much easier when you are recognised as an individual and given the treatment you deserve.

At Dublin18 Dental, we put the patient at the centre of our practice so that you feel supported and well informed at every stage. Thousands of clients have come to us for everything from check ups to extensive work and the feedback has been excellent.

braces-in-dublinWe have been providing orthodontic treatment to our patients for many years and now have a range of braces available to patients including a range of discreet solutions like Invisalign, Inman Aligner and 6 Months Smiles, as well as traditional braces. Dublin folk need no longer suffer unnecessarily from wonky or misaligned teeth.

You will not have to worry about choosing however. At Dublin 18 Dental we offer the best in professional advice to our patients before they make their decisions, meaning that as our patient, you will know what is happening with you and your treatment plan at every step of the way.

What kind of braces are right for me?

So, Dublin 18 Dental may well be the perfect place to get your braces in Dublin. But what kind of braces will you have? The range of braces available to our patients now is larger than ever. Braces tend to fall into a few distinct categories.

The first category are wire bracket braces. They are traditional braces that are placed directly onto the teeth and bonded to the front of them. You can have traditional metal brackets or tooth-coloured brackets. In either case the brackets are attached directly to the front of the teeth themselves.

Next you have invisible aligners, which can take the form of a clear retainer that looks like a gum shield that can be removed for cleaning and eating. Many people prefer this solution because it allows them to discreetly straighten their teeth, but also allows them to take them out for any occasions they would be worried about wearing a brace. In some cases a new retainer is provided every 4 weeks.

Finally, there is a discreet wire aligner called a lingual brace that can be fitted to the inside rather than the outside of your teeth. Using a similar wire frame to conventional braces, it uses pressure from the inside of the teeth to straighten them, meaning a solution that is even more discreet and totally effective, but also with a minimum of fuss.

No metal braces? No problem- how to discreetly straighten your teeth

Whilst braces remain, in a lot of situations, the best way to straighten your teeth, at Dublin 18 Dental Rooms we appreciate that the concept of an obvious fixed metal appliance can be off-putting to many adult patients, to say the least.

metal-bracesIn fact, the thought of wearing metal braces for months or even years can be enough to put adults off orthodontic treatment all together. This doesn’t just mean having to live with a crooked or misaligned smile that you feel embarrassed about; it also means that you will miss out on the health benefits of teeth straightening treatment. That’s why, at our Dublin dental clinic, we are proud to offer a number of more discreet orthodontic solutions.

When you straighten your teeth, you make them easier to clean. As long as you employ good dental hygiene techniques at home and visit your Dublin dentist and hygienist as often as advised, straightening your teeth can reduce your risk of gum disease and tooth decay.

Dublin braces and aligners

Dublin 18 Dental Rooms offers discreet tooth straightening treatment using both fixed braces and removable aligners. When you come in for a consultation, your dentist will help you to decide which is the best option to suit your needs. This will depend on various factors, including your clinical situation and your personal preference.

Depending on your requirements, your Dublin dentist could recommend:

Six Month Smiles

Six Month Smiles are cosmetic braces that comprise clear ceramic brackets and tooth-coloured nickel-titanium wires. They are designed for rapid, primarily aesthetic correction of crooked, crowded, or mildly misaligned front teeth – those teeth that show when you smile.

It is this focus on the social six teeth that enables them to work so quickly, and they are more comfortable than traditional braces, too.

Invisalign

A popular alternative to fixed braces at our Dublin dental clinic is Invisalign, a system of clear, removable aligners. They fit comfortably over your teeth and gently guide them into a better position, without anybody noticing them in daily life.

Treatment takes place in fortnightly increments, and you will need to wear a retainer when it is complete.

Fear metal braces? They are no longer the only teeth straightening option

If you want straighter teeth but are scared metal braces will ruin your confidence, our Dublin Dental Room can help. There have been massive, rapid advances in the field of orthodontics during the past three decades, which means that there are now a number of discreet teeth straightening solutions available to adult patients. Your ideal treatment will depend on your clinical requirements, along with your personal preferences.

cosmetic-bracesWhen you come into our Dublin Dental Room for an orthodontic consultation, your dentist will perform a thorough clinical examination, and will then talk you through all the relevant methods of straightening your teeth. Whether fixed braces or removable aligners are deemed best for your particular clinical situations, you can rest assured that treatment will be very subtle indeed – in many cases, friends and colleagues won’t even know you are undergoing orthodontic correction unless you actually tell them.

Dublin18 braces and aligners

The orthodontic solutions available from our Dublin Dental Room include both fixed braces and removable aligners. Whichever method you choose, orthodontic treatment will improve your dental health as well as boosting your self-confidence, because straightening your teeth makes it much easier to clean them properly.

Six Month Smiles

One of the most popular systems of cosmetic braces in the world, Six Month Smiles are made up of clear ceramic brackets and tooth-coloured nickel-titanium wires. This means they will blend in with the natural colour of your teeth.

These braces are not designed for cases of major correction of the bite, but instead work in as little as half a year to improve cosmetic issues with the social six teeth in the smile line.

Clear aligners

An alternative to braces, we offer a range of clear aligners at our Dublin Dental Room, including the popular Clear Braces system. Clear Braces aligners fit comfortably over your teeth and nudge them gently into an improved position. Treatment takes place in fortnightly increments, as you change your aligner every two weeks. You can pop them out for cleaning, which is great for maintaining dental hygiene, but should wear them for approximately 22 hours a day in order for you treatment to progress as anticipated.

Braces and aligners to subtly move adult teeth

Modern braces don’t have to be metal, and modern orthodontics needn’t necessarily involve the use of fixed appliances at all. At Dublin 18 Dental Rooms we offer a number of subtler ways to straighten your teeth, whether you require quick cosmetic correction or a more extensive procedure.

Clear-alignersTeeth straightening: the benefits

There are many benefits to be gained from teeth straightening, whatever your age and however you choose to do it. As well as providing a boost to your confidence by improving the appearance of your smile, straightening your teeth can improve your dental health by making your teeth easier to clean, with fewer gaps where plaque can accumulate.

The associated reduction in risk of dental decay and gum disease can also have benefits for your general health and wellbeing.

Protruding front teeth are more at risk of accidental damage, whilst some cases of bruxism can also be helped by orthodontic treatment.

Dublin braces and aligners

Anyone interested in straightening their teeth should come for a consultation at our Dublin Dental Room. You are never too old to enjoy the benefits of teeth straightening treatment, and we welcome patients of all ages. Your dentist will perform a thorough clinical examination and will talk through whether braces or aligners are the most appropriate treatment to suit your needs.

Six Month Smiles

Six Month Smiles cosmetic braces are designed for rapid, discreet correction of issues affecting the front teeth – those that are visible when you smile. They comprise tooth-coloured nickel-titanium wires and clear brackets, and work in an average of half a year. You will need to attend our Dublin Dental Room for check-ups and adjustments to your braces approximately once a month.

Clear aligners

Unlike braces, which are fixed to your teeth for the duration of treatment, the clear aligners on offer at Dublin 18 Dental are removable at home. Of course, you should wear them for the vast majority of the time – at least 22 hours a day – to ensure that your treatment progresses as planned, but you can take them out for short spells to clean and to brush your teeth – making it easy to maintain your dental hygiene – as well as for meals.

21st Century braces: not a glint of metal to be seen

When you think of braces, what do you envisage? If it’s traditional metal appliances, we invite you to think again. At Dublin 18 Dental we offer a number of more discreet ways to straighten your teeth. These may be fixed braces, or removable aligners.

metal-braces-dublinIf you are interested in finding out more about how modern orthodontics can straighten your teeth without a glint of metal in sight, why not come in for an orthodontic consultation at our Dublin Dental Room?

The benefits of teeth straightening treatment

Whether you use braces or aligners, there are numerous benefits to be gained from straightening your teeth – and it’s not all about aesthetics. Although some of the appliances we use at our Dublin Dental Room are known as cosmetic braces, they bring with them additional health benefits.

Straighter teeth are easier to keep clean. With fewer gaps in which food particles can get stuck and plaque or tartar can amass, you will reduce your risk of both gum disease and tooth decay, so long as you have a good oral care routine at home and visit your dentist and hygienist on a regular basis. Some studies have linked gum disease to conditions including heart disease and diabetes, so your general health will also benefit from tooth straightening treatment.

If your front teeth currently protrude, a device such as the Inman Aligner could reduce your chances of injury to these teeth by improving their position. Patients who suffer from bruxism (night-time tooth grinding) and associated headaches also sometimes benefit from orthodontic treatment.

Dublin braces and aligners

When you come into our Dublin dental clinic for an orthodontic consultation, we will perform a thorough clinical examination before talking you through all the appropriate methods of treatment.

Among the devices on offer at our Dublin Dental Room are:

Inman Aligner – A single-use aligner good for treating protruding teeth and adult relapse.

Six Month Smiles – Tooth-coloured cosmetic braces that work quickly by realigning the front teeth.

Clear Aligners – A series of clear aligners can be used to treat more complex orthodontic problems. You change them every fortnight as your teeth move.

Braces no longer need to be made from obvious metal

When you hear “braces” do you picture obvious metal “train-track” appliances? You are not alone; this is still what many people equate with orthodontic treatment. However, at our Dublin Dental Room we offer a number of more discreet solutions, designed to straighten your teeth without you having to endure a mouth full of metal for months on end.

metal-braces-dublinDiscreet orthodontics in Dublin

We use both discreet braces and clear, removable aligners at our Dublin Dental Room to straighten patients’ teeth. The best option for you will depend upon a number of factors, including the type and amount of correction required, your lifestyle, and your own personal preference.

Braces

At our Dublin centre, we offer treatment with Six Month Smiles cosmetic braces, which are ideal for mild to moderate correction involving the front teeth – those that show when you smile.

As the name indicates, average treatment time with these braces is just six months. Some cases are complete in half that time, where correction is very mild, and most patients complete treatment within a nine month time frame.

Comprising tooth-coloured nickel-titanium wires and clear ceramic brackets, Six Month Smiles blend in to the natural colour of your teeth far better than metal appliances do.

Invisalign

Invisalign is an alternative to braces; a system of clear, removable aligners, this treatment is practically invisible to the untrained eye. Your dentist will prescribe you the required number of aligners, and you need to change them every fortnight as your teeth move position. Invisalign can be removed for short periods for eating, brushing your teeth, and cleaning. They should be worn for at least 22 hours a day.

Inman Aligner

The Inman Aligner is a single-use removable device that is designed to correct protrusion issues with the front teeth, as well as cases of adult relapse. So long as you wear it most of the time, treatment should take just a few weeks.

Secret braces: the discreet teeth straightening option

Braces: what do you picture when you hear that word? Chances are you will visualise metal train-track appliances. At Dublin 18 Dental Rooms we are keen to point out that in the modern day and age this is far from the only option for patients requiring orthodontic treatment.

Read on to discover the subtler alternatives we offer at our Dublin clinic. . .

teeth-straighteningDiscreet braces and aligners in Dublin

Discreet orthodontics involves the use of either fixed braces or removable aligners to move your teeth into an improved position, without the whole world needing to know you are undergoing treatment. In fact, many of the devices used at our Dublin dental Room are so discreet that even your nearest and dearest will only know you are having treatment if you choose to tell them.

Depending on what your treatment needs are – the type and amount of orthodontic correction required – plus your personal preferences, your dentist may prescribe cosmetic braces or clear aligners to adjust the position of your teeth. The merits of all appropriate treatments will be discussed at the time of your initial consultation.

Here are some of the aligners and braces we offer at our Dublin clinic:

Clearstep Aligners

Clearstep is a series of aligners that gradually move your teeth into an improved position. They are custom-made to fit over your teeth precisely, and your dentist will give you enough aligners to complete your treatment. Every two weeks, you change your aligner as your teeth start to move. Because they are clear they will go unnoticed in daily life, and because they are removable they ensure maintaining good dental hygiene is easy.

Six Month Smiles

Six Month Smiles are fixed cosmetic braces that are made of clear and tooth-coloured elements. They swiftly move your front teeth into a better position, creating a beautiful straight smile.
