Rugby And GAA Sports Guards At Dublin18 Dental Care For Patients Near Dalkey Only €60

While sport can be exhilarating and exciting, it can also be dangerous and this is why we offer custom-made high performance mouth guards. With a mouth guard in place, there is a much lower risk of injury to the teeth and you can enjoy the game and give it your all without worrying about losing or breaking a tooth.

Our mouth guards

We provide bespoke mouth guards for amateur and elite athletes from €60. Our mouth guards are made from high grade materials and comply with IRFU standards to provide protection for the teeth and gums and ensure optimum comfort.

We create mouth guards based on impressions of your mouth to ensure that they fit perfectly and we offer a range of colours and designs, so you can as bright and bold as you like!

We welcome the decision from the GAA to prevent players from taking part without a gum shield and encourage anyone who participates in a contact or fighting sport to wear a mouth guard. Without a mouth guard, there is a very good chance that you could suffer an injury, which will require urgent dental treatment.

Who should wear a mouth guard?

Mouth guards are advisable for anyone who plays a sport that carries a risk of dental injury; this applies to children, amateurs, professionals and even those who just enjoy a kick about with friends now and again. You never know when an accident may happen, so resist the temptation to assume that you’ll be fine and always ensure that you have your mouth guard with you. We recommend mouth guards for anyone who participates in boxing, martial arts, wrestling, lacrosse, Gaelic football, rugby league, rugby union, field hockey and ice hockey.

Dental Dietary Advice For The New Year For Patients Near Dalkey

Now that Christmas is over, you may be feeling like you’ve overindulged slightly and this may have prompted some resolutions for a healthy new you in 2014. The good news is that eating healthily will not just help you to lose a few Christmas pounds, it will also help to boost your oral health and ensure that you enjoy strong and healthy teeth and gums in the year ahead.

Dental dos: the foods to add to your shopping list in the New Year

You often hear all about the foods you should be avoiding when it comes to oral health, but there are many items you can pop on your weekly shopping list to help boost your oral health.

Calcium is really important for your teeth and bones and it is advisable to ensure you get your recommended daily intake; good sources of calcium include milk, yoghurt and cheese, but if you are dairy intolerant, there are other foods you can eat to get your daily calcium dose and these include tofu, soya beans, leafy green vegetables, nuts and sardines.

Vitamin C is important for the immune system and good general health and helps to lower the risk of gum disease, as well as promoting speedy healing. Good sources of vitamin C include berries and citrus fruits, leafy green vegetables, potatoes, peppers and broccoli.

Foods to avoid

Unfortunately, many of the festive favourites, such as mine pies, Christmas pudding and sugared almonds, are high in sugar and this is bad news for the teeth and gums. In the New Year, try to restrict the amount of sugar you eat and stick to complex carbohydrates and fruit and vegetables, rather than indulging in cakes and biscuits.

Acidic foods and drinks can also be troublesome, as they erode the protective tooth enamel; try to avoid drinking a lot of fruit juice and wine and using vinegar-based dressings on salad.

Eating habits

Snacking can be a major problem for oral health; when you eat, the enamel becomes weaker temporarily and if you are snacking throughout the day, this means that your enamel is under constant attack. Try to stick to three meals per day and if you do fancy a snack, go for fibre-rich fruit or vegetables, a wholegrain piece of toast or crackers or a piece of cheese. It is a good idea to drink milk or water after eating and you should always wait around 1 hour after eating to brush your teeth. 6 Month Smiles For Patients Near Dalkey

We are delighted to offer our patients a special promotion price of 2,500 Euros for Six Month Smile treatment. This amazing fixed brace system straightens the teeth in half the time of other treatments and it has a host of additional benefits for patients of all ages who have minor orthodontic issues.

About 6 Month Smiles

Six Month Smiles is a fixed brace treatment, which uses discreet wires and brackets to gently move the teeth. Treatment time, as you would expert from the name, is often six months, making it much quicker than many other braces on the market. These braces work faster than other treatments because they focus on the social 6, the teeth that are visible when you smile. They also use innovative technology, including self-ligating wires, to increase the speed of movement without compromising on comfort.

Who can benefit from 6 Month Smiles?

This treatment is an ideal option for patients who have minor to moderate issues, which affect the front teeth. It is not suitable for patients who have issues with their back teeth or severe problems with their bite. However, if you are looking for treatment and 6 Month Smiles is not a viable option, we will happily discuss other treatments with you.

Six Month Smiles is a very popular choice for patients who want to look their best for an event or an occasion because it works so quickly. We often recommend this treatment for brides and grooms who want to make sure they are camera-ready on their big day.

Cerec Crowns For Patients Near Dalkley

Accidents can happen when you least expect it, but if you have a broken tooth, do not panic because at Dublin18 Dental Care we provide high quality, same-day crowns. We are one of just 16 dental practices in the whole of Ireland to use the amazing Cerec system, which enables us to produce bespoke crowns and other types of restoration on-site.

About Cerec

Cerec is an amazing form of technology, which enables us to design, make and fit bespoke crowns, inlays, veneers and onlays on the same day. Usually, patients have to wear temporary restorations for around 2 weeks while their permanent restoration is manufactured at a dental laboratory, but we are able to do everything on the same day. Cerec technology uses sophisticated imaging software to convert digital images into 3D models of the teeth. The images are sent to the milling machine and the restorations are manufactured; they are then ready to be fitted.

Cerec has a host of benefits for dentists and patients; the restorations are ready on the same day, there is no need for multiple dental visits or temporary restorations and the results of treatment are visible straight away.

Why would I need a dental crown?

Crowns are a type of restoration, which are used to strengthen the teeth. They help to prevent further damage to the tooth and make it stronger, so that you can eat and bite down on things without any problems. You may need a crown if your tooth is weak as a result of a large cavity or a large filling or damaged as a result of an accident, sports injury or trauma; crowns may also be placed after root canal treatment.

The procedure to fit a crown takes place in 2 stages; first, the tooth must be prepared, which involves removing any damaged or decayed tissue and cleaning the tooth thoroughly. When the tooth is ready, your dentist will take images of your tooth and then Cerec technology will be used to manufacture your bespoke crown; once the crown is ready, your dentist will fit it and check that you are happy with your new crown.

For more information on our Cerec technology please contact the team at Dublin18 Dental care near Dalkley.

Dental Check-ups At Dublin18 Dental Care for Children near Dalkey

Regular dental check-ups are important for all the family and we actively promote routine dental appointments and preventative treatment. We welcome the whole family and aim to make the dental experience fun and enjoyable for younger patients.

Why are check-ups important for children?

Firstly, going to the dentist from an early age allows children to become familiar with attending a dentist and accustomed to the sights and sounds of the surgery. Children who see their dentist on a regular basis from a young age are more likely to continue seeing their dentist for routine check-ups in their adult years, and they also have a lower risk of oral health problems. Children learn to trust their dentist and this consequently reduces the risk of them suffering from dental anxiety.

Dental check-ups are also important for your child’s oral development. During a routine examination we check the development of your child’s teeth and look out for any signs of problems, such as decay and cavities or orthodontic issues, which may need to be addressed when the child is older. We can also talk to children about teeth cleaning and healthy eating and we are always happy to answer any questions from children and parents.

Why choose Dublin18 Dental Care?

At Dublin18 Dental Care near Dalkey, we understand that going to the dentist can be daunting for youngsters, which is why we go the extra mile to ensure your child has a positive experience. We actively promote good oral health and spend time with children and parents to ensure they are aware of the importance of teeth cleaning and healthy eating. We are always on hand to answer questions and, above all, we aim to make the whole experience fun—so that your child never dreads going to the dentist. We want to ensure that your child leaves with a healthy smile!
