Why dental implants give back more than just a beautiful smile

If you choose dental implants to replace your missing teeth, you will get back so much more than an attractive smile. At Dublin 18 Dental Rooms, we can use implants to replace anything from one to all of your natural teeth. The procedure takes a few months to fully complete, but the result will be, in effect, a second chance at a fully functional set of adult teeth.

We see patients at our Dublin Dental Room who have lost one or more teeth for all manner of reasons. Gum disease and tooth decay are Ireland’s primary causes of tooth loss, and whilst these do not necessarily preclude you from implant-based treatment, dental implants do need to be placed in a healthy mouth to maximise their chances of being successful.

Fortunately, our Dublin Dental Room contains a number of highly experienced dentists who can treat conditions such as advanced gum disease prior to placing your dental implants.

Our Dublin clinic also has access to a CT scanner, which will be used in combination with x-rays to assess your level of bone density before you have implant surgery.

The majority of dental implants patients at our Dublin clinic only need local anaesthetic for this treatment. Although it involves minor oral surgery, your dentist will undertake intricate planning using the latest 3D computer software to ensure that your implants are put in exactly the right location and at the precise angle required to support your new tooth or teeth, in crown, bridge, or denture form.

The good news is that – unless you are having a single crown restoration – you are unlikely to need as many dental implants as teeth. A carefully placed series of implants is usually enough to support a full-arch bridge or denture.

Each case is different, so your dentist will discuss how many implants you will need and what the best restoration option is when you come in for your initial consultation.

With the help of dental implants you can wave goodbye to loose dentures or a gappy mile, and say hello to being able to eat, smile, speak, and laugh confidently.
